About Us - The Story of Roebert Ministries
Roebert Ministries has its roots in a deep love for God, a determination to follow the Holy Spirit, and a wholehearted response to His call – a journey that began with Pastor Ed Roebert.
Pastor Ed Roebert was born in 1939 in East London. At the age of 18, he gave his life fully to the Lord and soon sensed God’s call on his life. After studying theology, he became the senior pastor of Hatfield Baptist Church in Pretoria in 1963.
During the 1980s, the church became independent and was known as Hatfield Christian Church – a charismatic church with a strong focus on the Holy Spirit. Under his leadership, the church grew to over 6,500 active members.
After 34 years of faithful ministry, Pastor Ed went to be with the Lord at the age of 57 at the Union Buildings in Pretoria, while preparing to join a global movement to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. He is remembered as a pioneer of spiritual renewal in South Africa and a pastor to pastors.
But the story did not end there.
Today, the legacy continues through his family – a family devoted to serving the Lord across different spheres of ministry.
His sons are all in full-time ministry:
• Pastor John Roebert serves as the lead pastor of CHOOSE LIFE Church.
• Pastor Andrew Roebert leads Alive to God, reaching people around the world with daily encouragement and Biblical truth.
• Peter Roebert serves as the station manager at Impact Radio, a Christian community radio station impacting lives through media.
Their mother, Pal Roebert, has been a quiet but powerful foundation through her faithful and selfless prayers. Her devotion to the Lord and her family has played an integral role in shaping this legacy.
This heart for ministry extends into the next generation, where many of the Roebert grandchildren are either already in full-time ministry or preparing to step into it. There is a shared passion among them all – a deep love for the Lord and a desire to see lives changed.
Roebert Ministries exists as a reflection of this heritage – a desire to honour God, serve people, and continue sharing the hope of Christ with the world.
